Nenagh Walking Club — Aonach ar Siúl

Walk the hills, woods and lakeshore of North Tipperary — and beyond.

We're Aonach ar Siúl — a friendly hillwalking club in Nenagh, walking together since 2000. Most weeks we're out in the Silvermines, the Arra Mountains and along Lough Derg — with bigger days in the Galtees and Comeraghs, and trips further afield to Connemara, Kerry and beyond. All at a pace that suits everyone.

The week ahead

We're out most weeks of the year

Guided walks most Tuesdays, Thursdays and weekends. Book your place in advance with the walk leader — their number goes up with every walk — then bring boots, a rain jacket and water. Sorry — no dogs on club walks.

How our walks work
Tue · Thu

Midweek walks

Shorter local walks around Nenagh and across Tipperary, Clare and Limerick — a grand way to stretch the legs after work.

Weekends

Hill days

Bigger days out on the mountains — the Galtees, Slieve Blooms and Comeraghs — graded so there's a walk to suit you.

Now & again

Trips away

Weekends further afield in Connemara, Kerry and Wicklow — and a foreign trip too, like the Picos de Europa in northern Spain.

This week's walks — meeting points, times and the leader's number go up on our club WhatsApp group and Facebook page, with any weather changes on the morning.

Who we are

A friendly bunch who love Ireland's hills.

Nenagh Walking Club — Aonach ar Siúl — has been exploring Ireland's hills, mountains and countryside together since 2000. We welcome walkers of all levels, from gentle strollers to seasoned hikers, and we're affiliated to Mountaineering Ireland so every member is covered and supported. We walk in English and — anois is arís — as Gaeilge too, and we walk for the views, the fresh air and the people we walk with.

Everyone's welcome

From first-timers to seasoned hill-walkers. There's always a group at your pace, and a leader to walk with you.

It's about the company

The walking is half of it. The chat, the flask of tea at the top, the coffee after — that's the rest.

We mind the place

We follow Leave No Trace, respect farmland and gates, and look after the hills we're lucky to have on our doorstep.

Know the ground

The routes we love, on your doorstep

From a flat hour by the lake to a proper mountain day. Each route has the distance, climb and terrain so you know what you're in for.
