Our walks

Out most weeks of the year

We run guided walks most Tuesdays, Thursdays and weekends — from a gentle hour by the lake to a full day on the tops. New walkers are always welcome; just book your place in advance with the walk leader, whose number goes up with every walk.

Our walking week

When we head out

Tue · Thu

Midweek walks

Shorter local walks around Nenagh and across Tipperary, Clare and Limerick — a grand way to stretch the legs.

Weekends

Hill days

Bigger days out on the mountains — the Galtees, Slieve Blooms and Comeraghs — graded so there's a walk to suit everyone.

Now & again

Trips away

Weekends further afield in Connemara, Kerry and Wicklow — and a foreign trip too, like the Picos de Europa.

What we get up to

A bit of variety every month

Whether you're looking to get fit, meet new friends or discover Ireland's hidden trails — there's something for everyone, including our walks as Gaeilge.

  • Local walks in Tipperary, Clare and Limerick
  • Mountain hikes in the Galtees, Slieve Blooms and Comeraghs
  • Weekend trips further afield — Connemara, Kerry, Wicklow and beyond
  • Foreign trips — walking abroad together, like the Picos de Europa in northern Spain
  • Walks as Gaeilge — all levels of Irish welcome, from fluent to a cúpla focal
  • Map-reading and navigation training
  • Club events
  • Participation in national hillwalking festivals
As Gaeilge

Siúl as Gaeilge

We walk through Irish as well as English — siúl as Gaeilge anois is arís. Whether you have fluent Irish or just a cúpla focal, you'd be very welcome: it's a relaxed, friendly way to use whatever Irish you have, out in the fresh air. Fáilte roimh chách.

Our Irish-language walks are funded byForas na Gaeilge
Before you come

What to expect on the day

Book in advance: every walk must be booked with the walk leader beforehand. Each walk is posted with the leader's phone number — give them a ring or a text to put your name down. It lets them plan the group and let you know if anything changes.

No dogs, sorry: we walk through a lot of farmland with livestock, so dogs can't come along on club walks.

Come prepared: wear proper walking boots and bring a waterproof, water and a snack. Walks are graded A (hard) to C (easy) — pick what suits you, and ask a leader if you're unsure. You can see the kinds of routes we walk in our route library.

Where's the schedule?

We post each week's walks — meeting points, times, grades and the leader's number — on our club WhatsApp group and our Facebook page, along with any last-minute changes if the weather turns. Every member is added to the WhatsApp group when they join.
